Wyoming Lands 6’10” Gavin Gores

One of the top big men in the Midwest’s 2025 class announced his commitment today. Gavin Gores, a 6’10” senior of Cumberland High School and the Wisconsin Playmakers decided upon Wyoming.

Gores was offered by Wyoming during his official visit back in June. “Amazing,” is how he first described the visit.  “Their campus had everything I needed to be successful. Going with that the state of Wyoming is a beautiful place so the fit was easy when it came to that.” The visit to Wyoming was his only official visit.

The coaching staff played a prominent role in Gores’ choosing Wyoming. “The coaching staff and their strength and development coach. They have given me a plan and a vision to really put myself in a position to be successful at the Mountain West level. I also just felt the love of the entire staff and I wanted to be somewhere that I’m wanted as much as I want to be there.” While Sundance Wicks was just hired as Wyoming’s head coach back in May, his recruitment of Gores dates back before that. Wicks offered Gores last year when he was the head coach at Wisconsin-Green Bay.

Gores chose Wyoming over several other offers, including one from a high major program. Illinois, Illinois State, Loyola-Maryland, North Dakota State, South Dakota State, and Toledo all also offered him.

“I think my game and abilities are transferable to the collegiate level anywhere but with the offense that I’ve been shown and the analytics that Coach Wicks really dives into I know this was somewhere I could be successful,” Gores said about how his game will translate to Wyoming.
