Senior Malachi Johnson Adds An Offer

One of the top remaining available guards in Illinois’ 2024 class currently is Malachi Johnson. The 6’2” guard of Rockford Guilford High School recently added another offer to his growing list. Johnson is coming off a senior season in which he averaged 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. He previously played for Greater Purpose Athletics.

The newest school to have offered the senior is Southern Union, a junior college program in Alabama. “I like their coaching staff and the knowledge they have over there,” Johnson said about the newest school to extend an offer. “One of my good friends Marcus Hill went there and he was one of the top scorers this year at the D1 level. They build top talent and that’s something I liked.” Other programs to have extended an offer to him are Franklin Pierce and Wabash.

As well, Maryville and South Suburban are other schools that are recruiting him. Last month, Johnson had taken a visit to Maryville. “It was great, I liked it a lot,” he said talking about the visit there.

Currently, Johnson said amongst the schools recruiting him that both Maryville and Southern Union are standing out the most in his recruitment. In the coming weeks, he is planning on taking a visit to Southern Union.
