After being offered by Minnesota Crookston back in November, Hunter Lorenson announced his commitment to the division two program on Wednesday evening. Lorenson is a 6’0” senior point guard who attends Lake City High School and played with the MN Comets Elite program.
“The coaching staff and how they operate their program,” Lorenson said about why he picked the in-state school. “Felt like the best fit for me.” As well to his offer from Minnesota Crookstron, Southwest Minnesota State had also offered him.
The commitment comes after Lorenson took a visit to Minnesota Crookston back in November. He first described his visit as “awesome.” As well to adding in, “They really made me feel like I was at home and was a great environment.”
“They like to run ball screens and let their guards control the game. That definitely fits into my play style,” he responded on how his game will fit in at Minnesota Crookston. “I think it’s going to really benefit me and them.”
During the grassroots season over the course of the spring and summer last year, Lorenson was one of the better guards on the NY2LA Association while playing with the MN Comets Elite. Now into his senior season, he is averaging 23.2 points, 4.2 assists, and 3.2 steals per game after battling early season injuries on his ankle and hamstring.
