One of the top remaining players from Indiana’s 2024 class is off the board. On Wednesday evening, point guard Micah Davis announced his commitment in front of a crowd at his school, Franklin High School.
Amongst a lengthy list of scholarship offers, the 6’2” point guard of the Indy Heat program announced his commitment to Eastern Kentucky University. Eastern Kentucky and head coach A.W. Hamilton had just offered Davis back in June. The commitment comes after the senior had just taken his official visit down to the Richmond, Kentucky campus a couple of weekends ago.
During his junior season at Franklin, Davis had a breakout season. He was one of six players named to the Indiana junior core all-star team. While he entered this year already with plenty of division one interest already, his recruitment really took off over the last several months. Davis chose Eastern Kentucky over his other offers coming from Ball State, Eastern Illinois, Le Moyne, Morehead State, Northern Kentucky, Southern Illinois Edwardsville, and Southern Indiana. As well to his recent visit to Eastern Kentucky, he had also taken one to Northern Kentucky at the end of August.
On the EYBL this season with Indy Heat, Davis averaged 8 points, 3.9 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game. This comes after he averaged 17.3 points during his junior high school season to go along with 5.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.7 steals. Eastern Kentucky is getting an athletic and quick point guard. Davis excels playing on the attack with a great ability to create for himself and others. He can really set up his teammates and has shown a growing outside jump shot.
