One of the biggest stock rising big men in the Midwest’s 2025 class has been Gavin Gores over the past few months. Throughout the spring and summer while playing with the Wisconsin Playmakers, he was able to get on plenty of college coaches’ radars.
With his growth as a player also came his first division one scholarship offer. Back in July, Loyola Maryland offered the 6’9” post of Cumberland High School (WI). “Was a great feeling for myself, family, and my coaches to really start to feel the reward for the work I’ve been putting in but obviously it made me hungrier for the next opportunity,” Gores said about picking up his first offer. While he has yet to visit Loyola Maryland, he likes the school’s strong academics.
As well to the one offer, Gores has built great interest from a number of other division one programs. He has recently had North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, South Dakota, South Dakota State, and UW-Green Bay all in for workouts. At 6’9” with his strength, mobility, and energetic play, the number of college coaches showing interest in him only continues to build and this should only continue. He is one of the top big men in Wisconsin’s 2025 class with his unique set of tools.
Last season as a sophomore, Gores averaged 16.3 points and 9.6 rebounds per game and is now looking at his junior season. “Going into this season, which I am very excited for with our new coach and young team, we are looking to win. I will be doing whatever is needed for us to achieve that goal.” On a personal level, Gores is looking to show his improved jump shot and “handling and making plays, scoring the ball.” He also wants to continue to get stronger and put on weight.
