One of the most sought-after recruits from Wisconsin over the past decade, Kon Knueppel has made his college commitment. The five-star two guard will not be staying in-state and instead has made his commitment to Duke on Thursday evening.
“The Brotherhood just got bigger,” Knueppel wrote in his commitment post. Duke had initially offered him this summer back in early July. The commitment comes after the senior just took his official visit to Duke this past weekend. He had also taken visits to Alabama, Marquette, Virginia, and Wisconsin recently. In addition to these schools, Illinois, Louisville, Miami, Notre Dame, Stanford, USC, among others had all offered him.
While Knueppel has been one of the most offensively skilled players nationally in his 2024 class, it took until this year for him to climb up the rankings into a five-star recruit. During his junior season at Wisconsin Lutheran, he averaged 19.7 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.3 blocks while leading them to a 23-5 record. From the field he shot 62.1% and 51.5% from three. He continued to build from there with Phenom University. While playing on the Nike EYBL, he averaged 22.5 points per game during the season to lead the EYBL at the 17U level in scoring.
Duke and head coach Jon Scheyer are landing one of the most skilled and efficient scorers in the entire nation. Knueppel has a pure jumper with great range but also has a great ability to create for himself in the mid-range. Much more than just a shooter, the high IQ guard also utilizes all his tools to score in the mid-post and low-post well. The 6’6” two guard also has great feel with excellent court awareness as well.
Knueppel marks the third commitment in Duke’s 2024 recruitment class. He joins wing Darren Harris and guard Isaiah Evans in a class that now becomes one of the best in the nation.
