After finishing up his high school career at Dynamic Prep, Jaxon Olvera decided upon the postgraduate route before heading to college. The athletic and skilled scoring 6’5” guard will be attending Golden State Prep for his postgrad year. This past year on the NY2LA Association while playing with Team Temple, Olvera was one of the top guards.
“I decided to go postgrad because I feel like I was late coming onto the recruiting scene and I’m really young for my grade,” Olvera said about his decision to wait on college for a year. “I chose GSP because they have a great track record getting their kids to the division one level and that’s where I’m trying to get.”
Since the decision to go the postgrad route, the recruitment of Olvera has continued to build with several division one programs showing interest in the guard. Among the programs recruiting him include Abilene Christian, Cleveland State, Hawaii, Nebraska, and Texas State.
“I can score at a very efficient level,” was the first thing the guard said about what he can bring to a team at the next level. “And control the offense as a primary ball handler, also I can come and be a great teammate.” Olvera has an advanced scoring ability standing out the most with his shooting ability but also has a well-rounded game. He has good size in the backcourt and can create his own shot. Now moved into the 2024 class, he should be a popular target amongst plenty of division one coaches.
