DEION EDWARDS TALKS 56 POINT GAME

There have been plenty of standout performances around the region this high school season though Deion Jackson took it to another level recently. On Saturday in a 101-98 victory for Spring Valley High School (IN) over Austin High School, the 6’5” wing went for a staggering 56 points.

“It felt great,” Edwards said about his breakout performance that set the school record. “It was something that I didn’t know that I was going to do. I didn’t even realize I had that much, I was just trying to win the game.” The school record was previously held by Larry Bird.

The previous scoring high for Edwards was 47 points. His high scoring game raises his averages to 23.1 points per game in addition to 7.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.7 steals. “A driver first and good defender,” he said describing his own game. “But if I hit a few from the outside then I believe I can give anyone thirty.”

Following his record-breaking game, Edwards has his sights set on some further accomplishments. In the next few games, the junior is looking to score his one thousand career point as well as win another sectional this season.

After his run towards a sectional with Spring Valley High School this season, Edwards will be suiting up with EG10 in the spring grassroots season.
