There are few Illinois seniors who can match the success that Tyson Swanson had on the court this season. The 6’3” wing guard was a leader for Metamora High School who captured the Illinois 3A state title this season.
In the championship season he averaged 13 points and 5 rebounds on his way to earning honorable mention all-state honors. This includes a game high twenty points in the state championship game victory over Simeon. “Felt unreal to win the state championship, can’t describe the emotions,” Swanson told us.
“Play on the wing, can shoot and get to the rim, can defend multiple positions,” he said to describe his own game.
Before the run to a state championship, Swanson was unsure about playing college basketball but is now looking at becoming more of a reality with his college interest starting to pick up. He has a number of division two and three programs interested in him with visits scheduled to Illinois Wesleyan and McKendree.
With his scoring ability, versatility, and IQ, he has shown over the past year, Swanson looks to be a player that can make an immediate impact at the next level. For the right program, he is a winning player that could be a nice addition for the years to come.
