Throughout his high school career, Mason Shrout has been one of the most dominant and skilled 2024 guards in Ohio. With his play, the 6’4” guard of Preble Shawnee High School has pulled in several division one offers for himself.
After a stellar sophomore season in which he was named second team all-state and scored his one thousand career point, Shrout has continued to up his game. Right now, he is averaging 24.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists while shooting over 45% from beyond the arc. Plus, while only a junior he has also set the record for points at his high school.
Currently, Shrout has earned himself eight division one offers. Last summer Wright State became the first school to extend an offer to the 2024 guard and the offers have continued to pour in since then. Akron, Ball State, Kent State, Miami (OH), Ohio, Purdue Fort Wayne, and Toledo have all also offered him.
Kent State was the most recent offer for the junior having done so over the past weekend. As well Davidson, Furman, Illinois, Northwestern, Wake Forest, Western Michigan, Virginia, and Yale are amongst the others to have shown interest.
“I’m a high intensity player with a high motor and willing to do whatever it takes to win. I am a guard, but my size and footwork allow me to post smaller and bigger players. I can play the one through five and guard the one through five positions. I provide a lot of defensive energy and try to take a lot of charges,” Shrout said to describe his own game. This is all in addition to being one of the top 2024 scoring guards in the entire region and high IQ player.
After playing with All Ohio last year, Shrout will be Wildcat Select this upcoming spring.
