The 2025 class in Wisconsin has a handful of prospects who are tracking early as high major talents and Clevon Easton Jr has firmly established himself among the best in the state. As a freshman this winter at Madison East HS (WI), Easton is averaging 17 points 6 rebounds and 3 assists and has helped lead a young group to a 11-6 record.
At 6-4 with long arms, Easton doesn’t look like a freshman from a physical standpoint and has more than held his own at the varsity level. He checks a lot of boxes physically – top end speed with the ball in his hands in transition, explosion to play above the rim, strength to finish through contact and battle on the glass, and quickness to stay in front of smaller guards defensively.
As a young floor general Easton is dynamic with the ball in his hands, able to break down defenders and get into the paint. He has impressive vision and feel for the game for such a young player, makes the correct reads when help comes – finding open teammates for lay ups and open jumpers – and has a nice touch around the basket with both hands.
What separates Easton as a prospect is not just his physical tools and talent, but the competitive energy he brings to the floor. Never one to back down from a challenge, Easton has been at his best in the biggest matchups and most intense atmospheres.
When we first saw Easton as a middle school standout on the GNBA circuit with Wisconsin Premier, he stood out due to his size. But even as one of the taller players in the GNBA, Easton was consistently given opportunities to play with the ball in his hands and it has paid off in his development.
Chris Davis Sr has coached Easton with Wisconsin Premier and at the HS level this winter as an assistant for Madison East and has been a key part of Easton’s rise as a prospect.
NY2LA Sports caught up with Davis to discuss Easton’s game, what makes him special, and his growth.
“He has unique talent at his age. He can handle the ball, jumps out of the gym and plays defense. He’s the complete package. From being a chubby youth that didn’t start, to now almost being a 5-star player, it says a lot about his growth over time.”
The early production as a freshman has been evident, and Davis Sr sees a high ceiling for Easton.
“If he keeps working hard, he could be one of the best to ever come out of this city.
