Wauwatosa West was able to get out to a fast start in this highly anticipated matchup with plenty of stars. The duo of Kai Rogers and Jalen Brown were both dominant for long stretches but once the threes of Marquette University started falling late in the first half, they never looked back and won this 97-21.
TJ Adams – 2024 – G – Marquette University
Adams was a big difference maker in this one. He hit a trio of threes late in the first half to put his team on top and kept going in the second half. Once Adams got going hitting his shots, he just did not miss. He ended up with 28 points while hitting seven threes. While he can handle the ball and hit shots off the dribble, he is a real marksman spotting up from deep as he was hitting his shots at a very high percentage.
Jalen Brown – 2027 – G – Wauwatosa West
The tremendous freshman campaign continued in this one as Brown scored 23 points. He was near dominant throughout the first half as he could just not be stopped. While he exceled playing on the attack, he was also able to hit three threes. He has great body control, moves with the ball, and physicality to continue to get into the paint. While just a freshman he already stands at 6’4” in addition to being able to play through contact very effectively to finish with ease and capitalize on multiple and one drives. He looks every bit of one of the top 2027 recruits in Wisconsin as he has such a well-rounded game and can do a bit of everything so early into his high school career.
Cade Kohnen – 2024 – G – Marquette University
The senior played a huge role in his team’s victory as he is such a key for this team. He knocked down four threes and was able to finish with 19 points but did plenty more making a lot of winning plays. He is also a skilled passer that is a good quick decision maker and reads the floor well. On the defensive end, Kohnen plays with plenty of energy guarding the ball and forced a few key turnovers.
Ryan Meehan – 2024 – SG – Marquette University
Another shooter for the Marquette University team that played a big role in their win. The 6’3” wing guard was able to hit five threes in the victory including a couple of clutch ones down the stretch being able to quickly get his shot off. While his biggest impact may have come with his shooting, the tough senior also made some big energy plays for his team.
Nolan Minessale – 2024 – SG – Marquette University
Throughout the game, Minessale displayed his great ability to get to the basket. With his very long strides and some good moves, the St. Thomas commit is so tough to stop on the attack. He gets to the basket in a hurry and with his elite bounce and great length he finishes so well around the basket. He also hit a three in the game as his perimeter shooting continues to improve.
Kai Rogers – 2025 – F/C – Wauwatosa West
Even up against double teams, the highly regarded 6’10” junior was able to score 25 points. When he was able to get the ball around the paint, Rogers just could not be stopped scoring the ball on such a high percentage of his post touches. Whether posting up, dump offs, or put backs, he just could not be stopped. He moves well at his size, has some touch, and is a very powerful finisher to score so well inside. The aggressive rebounder grabbed everything around him for 11 rebounds in the double-double performance. Rogers also showed the ability to put the ball on the floor attacking the basket and came away with several big blocks utilizing his great physical tools and maneuvering well around the interior.
