On Sunday at the Berto Center in Deerfield, Illinois was the ALL IN program’s P32 workouts. The event consisted of live drills and some 5-on-5 action. Here is a sample of the standouts from the day.
Javin Griffin – 2026 – PG – Warren Township
While not always seen in this scrimmage like atmosphere, Griffin showcased true floor general abilities. He consistently had full command of the offense, playing strong with the ball in his hands against pressure, and was getting all his teammates involved setting them up to score. He is a high IQ point guard who was also vocal on the floor.
Miles Marabella – 2029 – G – Antioch
Already as a freshman, there is much to like from the game of Marabella. He already has plenty of size in the backcourt standing at 6’4” but also has the skills to go along with it. Even while playing up versus the upperclassmen group, he showed he more than belonged. He already showed good playmaking ability with the ball in his hands with his handle and moves plus ability to score it effectively both attacking the basket while finishing in traffic as well to creating for himself in the mid-range.
Ben Newcomb – 2027 – SG – Lakes
Building off a breakout sophomore season, Newcomb has continued to impress with his play on both ends of the floor. This was especially highlighted by his shooting ability. The two guard has consistently proven his great spot up shooting ability and this was true throughout the workouts as one of the top three-point shooters there. He is also a smart defender who was consistently playing with great energy on that end defending the ball.
Nathan Payne – 2029 – PG – Maine West
While just starting up his high school career, Payne showcased a high skill set and playmaking with the ball. The guard is a good shot maker off the dribble hitting several of them. He was able to get it done in the mid-range effectively creating separation as well from three. Payne plays with some real quickness too whether it was flying by defenders to the basket as well to proving to be very tough to beat off the dribble. He plays with some real confidence and will be a player to track in the coming years.
DeAngelo Rodriguez – 2028 – G – Maine West
The guard truly did a ton throughout the event but shined most with his defensive abilities. It’s safe to say that Rodriguez was one of the best, if not best, perimeter defenders of the day. He is an incredibly active and quick defender who cannot only lock down opposing guard but also force turnovers at a high rate. This included a pair of steals during the workout in just the matter of a few plays as he was consistently all over ballhandlers as well as active in the passing lanes. Not just a defender, Rodriguez also showed a good ability to quickly get all the way to the basket slicing through heavy traffic.
Nathaniel Rouse – 2027 – F – St. Viator
Rouse is a player who showed some real growth in his game during the workouts in his play. This including his perimeter game for the 6’6” forward. In both drills and the scrimmages, Rouse was consistently knocking down his threes plus showed some improved ability to put the ball on the floor with some handle and just overall moving quicker. At 6’6” with a solid frame, Rouse also showed his ability to get into the paint and battle on the glass and finished a few strong buckets.
