While he already has a couple of division one offers, the recruitment of 2027 point guard Mike Rogers Jr. continues to grow this fall. This comes following a strong grassroots season with Team Herro which included a 11-1 record on the Nike EYBL. With his consistent high level of play over the past couple of years, Rogers ranks amongst the top point guards in the Midwest’s 2027 class.
“I had a blast playing with Team Herro. We won lots of games and I got to play against the best competition in the world with some of my closet friends,” Rogers said. In addition to their success on the Nike EYBL, Rogers and Team Herro also claimed the platinum championship at the NY2LA Swish N’ Dish tournament out of a 63 team field.
The high IQ, pure point guard received his first division one offer last summer from nearby Milwaukee. Then back in May of this year, La Salle also offered him. To date, he has taken one visit so far which was to Miami (OH). The newest development in his recruitment is the programs coming to see his open gyms early on in this viewing period in September. So far, Alabama A&M, North Dakota State, and South Dakota have come to check him out at Homestead High School. Rogers said that Illinois State, Northern Iowa, and Western Illinois are some of the programs looking to come to his future open gyms this fall. Among the other schools showing interest in Rogers currently include Appalachian State, Bradley, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, and Western Michigan.
Next up for Rogers is his junior season at Homestead. In his sophomore season, the point guard averaged 12.8 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1 steal per game to earn third team all-conference honors. “Just to win,” Rogers said about his goals for the upcoming season.
