After just receiving his fist division two offer recently, Cade Dirkse has announced his commitment. On Saturday night, the 6’2” point guard of Chapman North and Oostburg High School announced his future plans to attend to play for Hillsdale College.
I picked Hillsdale for an array of reasons,” Dirkse said about his decision in choosing the Michigan school. ”The coaching staff there is unbelievable, their academics there are outstanding, and their culture is something that I’m looking for. Hillsdale has everything that I could ever want in a school. Not to mention their basketball team is very competitive. Another large piece for me in deciding Hillsdale is that they encourage people to live out their faith which is a big priority for me and my family.”
While he was just recently offered by Hillsdale at the end of July, Dirkse did not need any more time to make his decision. “I didn’t need to think about it any longer. The earlier they get commitments, the better, and there was no reason for me to wait any longer. I found the perfect fit for me. Hillsdale is such a unique school and I truly believe that it is a perfect fit for me. I couldn’t be happier with my decision!”
“I see my game fitting in there well,” said about his future playing at Hillsdale. “Everything that they value in basketball players, I believe I have or can advance those skill sets. With two senior point guards this year, there will be opportunities for impact my freshman year. Of course, everything is earned. But there will be lots of opportunity. That is also something I’m very excited about. I think both parties are very excited for what this can be. I’m just so thankful that I found such a great fit and had this opportunity!”
Hillsdale is getting one of the top point guards in Wisconsin’s 2026 class. For Oostburg, he earned back-to-back player of the year honors in the Big East South Conference. He has also shined throughout his high school career with Chapman North as one of the top 2026-point guards on the NY2LA Association over the past couple of years. This included averaging double-digit points in several tournaments this year but also averaging over 6 assists per game in multiple tournaments too.
