Between the NY2LA Next Level Invitational during the May live period and then Final Chapter and Summer Jam tournaments this July during the two live periods, one of the top players at each of them was Vincent Nover at the 16U level. The 6’4” 2027 guard was playing with Indiana Elite Central.
“I am a well-rounded player,” Nover first said when describing his own game. This was evident throughout the summer as a true do it all player with his skill set, high basketball IQ and positional size in the backcourt at 6’4”. “Offensively, I like to play on all three levels throughout the game. I just read what my defender gives me, and I can score in whatever way I need to. Whether it be inside, mid-range game, or the three. I also like to distribute and make plays for my teammates without forcing points. I can distribute the ball well and move without it. I also take pride in my defense. I can shut down my man one on one. I am good on help side which allows me to pick off passes. I’m also a great rebounder for the team and my high-school team. Overall, I just work on being as well rounded as I can be.”
As part of his well-rounded game, this includes his scoring ability. At the Next Level Invitational, he averaged 17.5 points per game while shooting a highly efficient 65.2% from the field. This was in addition to averaging 6.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists in an undefeated 4-0 tournament. Then to finish off the season at Summer Jam, he scored 24 points to start off bracket play and then 18 points in a win to get his team to the championship game. Nover called his grassroots season “very successful.” Stating that “we all grew as players and individuals.”
While he doesn’t have any offers yet, Nover did say he is “having great conversations and getting great feedback about my skills and game,” from college coaches. Adding in when asked about his recruitment, “I am really excited about my upcoming high school season. My goal now as a rising junior is to continue getting better and take my game to a new level as well as help Carmel win a championship.” If he continues to show more of what he has over the past few months, college coaches will defiantly want to be familiar with Nover.
