Hassan Makki Talks First Offer

Following his breakout summer, 2026 Hassan Makki has picked up his first offer. This came from Michigan-Dearborn for the 6’6” small forward of the Michigan Playmakers and Dearborn High School.

In the month of July, there were few players on the NY2LA Platinum Elite that helped their recruitment stock as much as Makki. This started at the NY2LA Final Chapter during the first live period where he helped the Michigan Playmakers go undefeated at 4-0. His high level of play continued the next weekend at the NY2LA Summer Jam helping his team advance all the way to the championship game of the platinum bracket. This included scoring 22 points in the semifinals game victory.

“I had a great summer with the Michigan Warriors we were very successful met some teammates who I can call my brothers now and we all didn’t need time to play with each other and had chemistry from the jump,” Makki said on his play this grassroots season.

“I love that it’s my hometown school and I love the coaching staff,” Makki stated on what he likes about Michigan-Dearborn. As well to the offer from the NAIA program, he is generating interest from programs from multiple levels. Among the other schools recruiting him include Albion, Rochester, Wabash, Wayne State, among others.

“I’m versatile, there’s nothing I can’t do on the court,” he first said when describing his own game. “High IQ and know how to get to my spots by using my foot work and strength. I can defend multiple positions and I’m a great leader on the floor always talking and playing with energy. At 6’6”, Makki showed a nice blend of skills and athleticism. He is a tough matchup with his playmaking abilities with the basketball in addition to playing strong around the paint as well to being able to hit the three.
