The first of four articles of my top performers from this weekend’s NY2LA Summer Jam Finale.
Jensen LePla – 2027 – SG – D Rice Elite
LePla had an impressive showing throughout the tournament, displaying consistent skill and abilities on offense. The 6’5” wing guard excelled in scoring, he had 37 points in his game on Saturday as his team won 76-75. LePla relentless drives to the basket makes him a reliable scoring option at higher levels as he’s able to finish through contact and draw fouls. He’s great at taking his defender off the dribble to slash to the basket and is dominant in the paint but also showed an improved jump shot in the mid-range and outside.
Rhett Route – 2026 – G – Houston Hoops CTX Route
The guard put on a great shooting display with an all-around performance during the Summer Jam Finale. Route proved to be one of the most reliable three-point shooters in the tournament, with a quick release and calm under pressure. Route is a high percentage shooter who scored 24 points including six threes in his game on Saturday; he has the ability to shoot from multiple spots with great court awareness and the ability to control tempo and pace. Route is a high-level playmaker with a lot of tools to his game.
Evan Blankenship – 2026 – W – Mercury Elite 17U Rush
Blankenship put on a strong performance during the Summer Jam Finale as he displayed his sharp shooting from three and much more. The wing was consistent and a reliable contributor as he scored 15 points in his game on Saturday and was a key contributor down the stretch hitting two straight threes and icing the game with free throws as the team won 71-64. He also has good size on the wings standing a 6’6”. A big stock booster this summer who needs to be on college coaches radars with all he can do.
TJ Hillman – 2026 – G – Mercury Elite 17U Rush
The playmaking guard, Hillman consistently controlled the tempo and made smart decisions throughout the tournament. Hillman has great court vision and quick instincts.. Hillman scored 14 points in his game on Saturday in addition to multiple assists to get the win. He has good court vision on the attack and is a smart playmaker with the ball in his hands.
Cannon Flynn – 2027 – SF – Oakland Elite 2027
All-around player, Flynn made an impact in every game with all of his skill and physical tools. Following his 47 point game the weekend before at Final Chapter the wing scored 18 points in his game on Sunday displaying his shooting and slashing ability with multiple high other high scoring outputs. Flynn can score at all three levels and can create for teammates when needed. Defensively, Flynn can guard multiple positions, stays active in the passing lanes, and rebounds with intensity.
Jakobe Louris – 2026 – G – Michigan Playmakers 17U
Louris brought relentless energy and athleticism, constantly attacking the basket with purpose. Louris has a quick first step, great body control, and toughness to finish through contact. When in transition, his explosiveness created driving lanes and opened up opportunities for teammates as they ran the floor hard in transition. Louris scored 17 points in his game on Sunday, showing his athletic tools to be a high-volume, downhill slasher.
Brockton Goehrke – G – 2026 – Hoops4Health 17U National
Goehrke had a strong showing throughout the tournament, demonstrating consistent effort on both ends of the court. Goehrke had a great all-around performance playing with intensity and impacting games with his scoring bursts and solid defensive effort. He scored 17 points in his game on Sunday including three threes. Goehrke can shoot from deep as well as in the mid-range. On defense, he closes out on defenders quickly without getting beat and racked up multiple steals playing the passing lanes.
Daniel Cervantes – G – 2027 – Hoops4Health 16U National
Cervantes delivered a strong performance throughout the tournament. He was a reliable contributor by setting the tone for the team with high energy and his high skill level. His ability to create scoring opportunities for himself was impressive as Cervantes scored 24 points in his game on Saturday including four threes.
