The competition and games at the NY2LA Summer Jam only improve as we get deeper into bracket play. Sunday should have some must see games as the champs will be crowned.
Zahir Haqq – 2026 – G – The Academy
After playing very well on Friday, Haqq was even better on Saturday. This included leading his team into the elite by scoring a remarkable 31 points as he was just unstoppable for long stretches. Haqq was scoring strong on the attack as he usually does playing his great physicality but also hit a trio of threes.
Jakobe Louris – 2026 – SG – Michigan Playmakers
It was a breakout day for the lengthy wing guard. He led his team in the round of 16 scoring 20 points in the win. He followed that up in the quarterfinals matchup by scoring a team high 14 points to get the into the final four. He is truly a versatile scorer as he got it done in every single way throughout his two games but was at his best going to the bucket and finishing in traffic utilizing his great length.
Ethan Matz – 2026 – G – Full Package
Not only did Matz lead his team with 21 points, he also hit the game winning three pointer while being fouled. In the final seconds, the 6’3” guard got the ball and knocked down the three even through plenty of contact and completed the four-point play for the win. Of his 21 points, Matz hit four threes. He’s one of the biggest stock risers in Illinois’ 2026 class this summer to date.
Elijah Poniewaz – 2028 – PG – Missouri Phenom
It was another highly impressive day for the extremely skilled guard as he shined in each of his two games. This included scoring 22 points in their second win of the day to get his team into the final four. Even while playing up an age level, his scoring ability is on another level with such a great ability to create for himself off the dribble. He was finishing extremely well all around the paint and mid-range but can also shoot the three.
Gabe Servais – 2027 – G – Wisconsin 26ers
Servais had one of the top shooting as well as scoring performances of the entire tournament so far. In an overtime victory, the guard went off for 30 points. This included him hitting five three pointers in the win. Much more than just a shooter, Servais also showed some quickness with the ball and good moves to beat defenders off the dribble often getting into the paint effectively.
