Following a breakout spring, Will Krueger has started to see his recruitment jump off. This included receiving his first scholarship offer for the 6’4” 2027 shooting guard.
After only averaging 2.6 points for a very good and deep De Pere team in his sophomore season, Krueger had a stellar spring with the Wisconsin Legends. When asked about his spring season, Krueger said “This spring with WI Legends has been a lot of fun. As a first-year program, we had to prove ourselves worthy of some attention. Our team play and defensive mentality have helped us to be really competitive and turn some heads where people don’t expect what they get from us.” The success of Krueger and his 16U Wisconsin Legends team included a quarterfinals appearance to start the spring at the NY2LA Swish N’ Dish. This was followed by a 3-1 record at the NY2LA Spring Extravaganza and then a 4-0 record at the NY2LA Next Level Invitational.
Now following this breakout spring, Krueger has received a scholarship offer from Lake Superior State this week. “Definitely surreal to know that I have the opportunity to play at the next level and that school is covered. I’m a late bloomer so I went very quickly from just hoping I could someday be good enough to play for De Pere High School to believing that I could be a scholarship player,” he said about picking up the offer.
When asked about Lake Superior State, Krueger said “I got the chance to hang out with the team on Saturday night and they seem like great guys who would be solid teammates. I enjoy Coach Hettinga’s style as he pushes team-first basketball, which is how we play at De Pere.”
Krueger says his recruitment is just starting up but he has also talked to a few other division two programs in addition to this first offer. College coaches can see Krueger and the rest of his 2027 Wisconsin Legends team next month during the two live periods at the NY2LA The Final Chapter and NY2LA Summer Jam tournaments.
