Over the past year, Soriano Hayes has greatly boosted his recruitment stock. This started during this past high school season at Lanphier High School (IL) and has continued early into his grassroots season with Capital City Teamwork. In his junior season at Lanphier, Hayes averaged 13 points and 9 rebounds per game. He helped them to a twenty one win season.
With Capital City Teamwork, Hayes started to make a name for himself last summer at the NY2LA Summer Jam Tournament. This continued to this year where he was one of the top guards at the 17U level earlier this month at the NY2LA Swish N’ Dish Tournament.
“Complete,” is what Hayes first said to describe his own game. “I can score at all three levels, defend, I can play above the rim, just an all-around player.” In addition to his all-around game, Hayes has good positional size in the backcourt standing at 6’4”. At the Swish N’ Dish Tournament he greatly stood out with his ability to create his own shot, athleticism, and versatile defensive play.
With all the tools to the game of Hayes, he has started to get on the radar of scholarship level colleges. Amongst these from the division one level is Eastern Illinois who has been in contact with them. Hayes is a player who could see plenty more programs in touch with him in the coming months with his unique blend of talents on the court.
Hayes and Capital City Teamwork will be at the NY2LA Spring Extravaganza this weekend in Bettendorf, Iowa. They will get the tournament started on Friday night at 9:40 up against Wisconsin Academy.
