A quickly emerging player in Illinois’ 2027 class is Charles Schlicht. The 6’2” guard is in midst of having a breakout season with Grant Community High School.
Right now in his sophomore season, Schlicht is averaging over 14 points per game to be a key part of all the success for Grant. With the sophomores play they have a 11-6 record currently. While Grant got off to a very slow start this season with a 1-4 record, they have now won 10 of their last 12 games. Schlicht has been a big reason for their recent run having scored twenty plus points in 5 of his teams last 6 games.
Prior to his sophomore high school season, Schlicht had a standout grassroots season with PAC Elite. He was consistently one of the most impactful players on the 15U level of the NY2LA Association with his scoring and versatile play. This was especially true at the NY2LA Summer Jam tournament where he averaged 22.7 points per game.
“Very athletic three level scorer,” Schlicht first said when describing his own game. “I’m able to hit the three, get to the mid-range pull up, and finish very well at and above the rim.” One aspect he is looking to improve upon is “staying focused on the defensive end.”
Schlicht is looking to continue this run of recent success to finish off this season. “Our main goal for the rest of the season is to win conference. This past Saturday we defeated the current number one seed in the conference, Grayslake Central, where I scored a game high 21 points.”
