Over the weekend, one of the top available scorers in Wisconsin’s 2025 class announced his college commitment. This came from Drew Daoust of Southern Door High School and the Wisconsin Crusaders. The 6’1” guard made his commitment to Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
The commitment comes after Daoust visited the in-state school a couple months ago previously on September 7th. Regarding his visit, he said “The visit was absolutely awesome, I really enjoyed the campus. The basketball facilities were awesome, and the best part was learning about their rich history in basketball which was unbelievably good.”
“The main things that I like about Stevens Point is the coaches who were absolutely fantastic throughout the whole recruiting process,” Daoust said. “As well as the players who made me feel really accepted there and really made me feel like I belonged. I really also like the distance it is away from home which is about only two hours, it was very important that my family and friends were able to come and watch me play!”
Before making his commitment to Stevens Point, Daoust had received scholarship offers from both division two and NAIA programs. This includes ones from Dakota State, Newman University, and Lincoln University. When asked why he picked the division three program over his scholarship offers, he stated “I decided to choose them over my scholarship offers is because of how good the WIAC Conference is, and I think that the WIAC Conference is playing at a higher level than a lot of division two teams. To go along with that, I felt that Stevens Point basketball was heading in the right direction and is looking to make a big jump this year and years following, and I really wanted to be a part of that. There would be no better feeling in the world than to bring a National Championship back to UW- Stevens Point.” He added in their physical therapy program that he is looking to major in is a big factor in the decision as well.
