2025 NY2LA Next Level Invitational – 17U Top Performers Part 1

Just the first part of all the standouts that excelled in Indianapolis over the weekend at the NY2LA Next Level Invitational.

Greg Grays – 2026 – G – D Rice Elite

Grays has continued to round out his game to be one of the top guards in Michigan’s 2026 class and should be expecting more division one offers coming his way. He was one of the top scorers of the tournament but contributed much more. While he has always been incredibly tough to defend on the attack, Grays has continued to improve as a shooter. Right from his start on Friday, he was confidently shooting the ball from the outside hitting threes at a high percentage. Grays was also a standout with his tough, high energy on ball defensive play.

Korbyn Hammel – 2026 – PG – Lvl Up

There is plenty to like from the game of Hammel with all his translatable tools. He has good size in the backcourt at 6’3”, is a versatile scorer who can put up big numbers including a 30-point game, is an explosive athlete, and can run the point. While he is a good spot up three point shooter, Hammel excels on the attack. He can beat defenders off the dribble with both his quickness and physicality. As well to having three dunks in a single game, Hammel also showed great body control around the paint to finish at a high rate in traffic. Last summer he received an offer from Eastern Michigan and should continue to attract further division one interest.

Jacob Hibner – 2026 – PG – Wisconsin Academy

Hibner was one of the top, if not top, scorers of the entire tournament. He scored it extremely well throughout the entire tournament including games of 34 and 27 points helping his team to an undefeated tournament. He is an improved driver using his positional size at 6’3” and strong frame to play through contact and finish in traffic inside but can also be a knockdown shooter to put up all his points.

Chris Jones Jr. – 2025 – PG – Ice Tre Elite

Jones can get red hot and score the ball at an extremely high rate. In a single half of play on Friday, he scored 22 points in a single half. Then on the next day, he scored 19 points in a single half. As well to some size at the point at 6’3”, he can really create for himself but also distributed it well too. He has great burst of quickness accelerating to the basket but can also shoot it well from all over the floor.

Faisal Mohamud – 2026 – PG – Hoosier State Prospects

Mohamud was one of several players from this Hoosier State Prospects team who stood out at the tournament to help them to a 3-1 record. He scored it in double figures in each of his four games including going off for 27 points in one. He is a high percentage shooter from the outside but also a versatile scoring both creating shots in the mid-range and getting to the rim well. As well to his scoring, Mohamud also showed a good ability to run the point and create for his teammates.

Levii Tallos – 2026 – SG – Full Package

Tallos continues to be a popular name in these top performer articles this spring. He started the tournament in a big way scoring 20 points in just the first half of his first game. The 6’4” guard has continued to be a knockdown shooter from the outside but did much more. He also went to work inside using his toughness to score on a few put backs in that one half. The guard showed good decision-making ability with both his shot selection as well as reading the floor and passing it well.

Owen VanderWaal – 2026 – F – WM Premier

VanderWaal is a very consistent, highly impactful forward which was highlighted throughout the tournament to help his team to a 4-0 record. Not only did he score and rebound it extremely well with multiple double-doubles but even had a triple-double collecting 10 assists in a single game. As well to being 6’7” he can beat defenders in multiple ways to score 22 points in a game. VanderWaal can get it done posting up but is also facing up to the basket and hit shots, plus can attack from the mid-post or perimeter.
