With some of the last 2024 commitments still coming in, there was also a significant commitment on Monday coming from the 2025 class. That came from Macari Moore who announced his commitment to Iowa State and head coach TJ Otzelberger. The commitment comes after Iowa State offered him back in October. Moore is a 6’3” guard of Ann Arbor Huron High School (MI) and The Family.
“I really like the family environment,” Moore first said about choosing the Cyclones, who recently won the Big 12 tournament and are a 2 seed in the upcoming NCAA tournament. “I feel like it’s a great opportunity for me and I just built a great relationship with all the coaches.”
Over the past year, the recruitment of Moore continued to greatly heat up. He received his first offer last April and they continued to roll in over the next several months. The other programs to have also offered Moore included Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Louisville, Toledo, and Western Michigan.
When asked about his future on the court at Iowa State, he said “I see my game translating well because they run most of their stuff through their guards.” While only a junior, Moore knew it was the right time to announce his commitment. “I wanted to play aau free and not have any worries,” he said about making his pledge now.
