On Thursday, Jonah Funk took an unofficial visit up to Wisconsin. The 6’10” 2025 forward of El Paso-Gridley High School (IL) and MidPro Academy went for their game versus Rutgers. Funk ranks among one of the top forwards in Illinois’ 2025 class.
“The visit was awesome,” Funk said about his Wisconsin trip. “I had a blast and Wisconsin put on a show.” When asked if there was anything that he liked about the Badgers, the junior said “I really like their coaching staff and how welcoming they are. I felt like family there. The atmosphere was unlike any other I’ve been to. They got one heck of a fan base.”
As well to his Wisconsin visit, he also took one to another Big Ten school in Iowa back in December. Next up for visits for Funk is one to Richmond on a to be determined date.
While Wisconsin has not offered Funk, he does hold an offer from Eastern Illinois which offered him back last summer. Some of the other schools to be showing interest in him include Belmont, Creighton, Illinois, and North Dakota State.
In his junior season, Funk helped El Paso-Gridley go 25-5 on the year. “There is a lot we can improve on before next season,” Funk said about the season. Next up for the 2025 prospect is the spring grassroots season with MidPro Academy.
