2025 Drew Murphy Talks Northern Michigan Commitment

With the majority of 2024 players having made their commitments, now some 2025 players are making their commitments. One of the first from regions 2025 class to make their college commitment was Drew Murphy.

On Thursday evening, the 6’6” small forward of Verona Area High School and Wisconsin Swing announced his commitment to Northern Michigan. Murphy also had offers from a couple of other division two programs, Michigan Tech and Winona State.

Murphy has already taken a couple of unofficial visits to the Marquette, Michigan campus. “Each time I had a great time and it felt like home on and off the court,” Murphy said. He is planning on taking his official visit there this fall.

“I like what a great program they and their winning tradition and run a system that fits me well,” he said. “I also have a great relationship with the coaches. I also love the facilities and the town.”

“I decided to commit now because I knew where my heart was. I wasn’t in this recruiting process to put off committing to get more offers, I went into recruitment trying to find a home that best fit me,” Murphy said about why he decided to make his commitment now. “Northern Michigan was the first school to offer me and they believed in me from day one and the relationship I had with the coaches was special, I didn’t see a point in waiting any longer because I wasn’t going to change my mind of where I belonged.”
