While the majority of the top talent in Illinois’ 2024 class is off the board having made their college commitments, a handful of scholarship level players still remain available. One of these top available players being Lee Marks, a 6’6” wing of Mt. Carmel High School and Team Rose.
Marks became a very popular name amongst division one coaches last year during the spring and summer. In April, Radford became the first division one program to extend an offer to him. Then in June, Eastern Illinois, Southern Illinois Edwardsville, and UC-Davis also extended offers to Marks as well. Some of the schools that have been in touch with him the most more recently include Central Michigan, Lewis University, and Morton College.
In his senior season, Marks has been a big part of his team’s success. Mt. Carmel has been one of the top teams in all of Illinois this season with a 19-2 record while battling a very competitive schedule. Not only has Marks been a big reason for all the wins but has plenty of tools for the next level. At 6’6” with his length, athleticism, and motor that does not stop, he is an extremely tough defender. He has a great ability to match up well with multiple positions very effectively as one of the top versatile defenders in the state. The explosive wing can also score it going to the basket and finish above the rim as well as be a consistent shooter from the outside.
When talking about a commitment timeline, Marks said “If I can, I plan to commit sooner rather than later.” Coming this week Marks and Mt. Carmel have some key matchups on the schedule including games against Loyola Academy and Kenwood Academy.
