2024 G TYLER MASON TALKS WINONA STATE COMMITMENT

It has been a big year for Tyler Mason. It started during his junior season in which he won an Illinois state championship with Metamora High School. Following that he was a prominent piece of a very good MidPro Academy team during the spring and summer. Now, the 6’2” guard has made his college commitment to Winona State.

Mason made his commitment on Sunday, just a day after taking a visit to the division two school in Minnesota. “The visit went great,” Mason said. “All the coaches were cool, and I could tell they really wanted me to join their program.”

There were a variety factors on and off the court that came into play in his decision. “One thing I like about it is the town itself, it’s right on the Mississippi river and there is so much to do up there. Another thing is the campus, I love the campus because it’s not too big.” There were also factors on the court and the fit the played a prominent role in Mason’s decision. “I see my game fitting in really nicely because after a few years their starting point guard won’t be there, and I’ll be his replacement.”

Before he heads off to Winona State, the high scoring athletic guard is still looking to accomplish one more thing. After winning a state championship last season, he is looking to win one more state title to finish off his high school career. Metamora with Mason along with new transfer and Iowa commit Cooper Koch, Matthew Zobrist, and Luke Hopp, should have a good opportunity at repeating their 3A state title.
