Looking ahead to the 2024-24 season, NY2LA Sports breaks down the race in the Woodland East Conference…
PROJECTED STANDINGS
1. Whitnall
2. Greenfield
3. Brown Deer
4. South Milwaukee
5. Milwaukee Lutheran
6. Shorewood
7. Cudahy
THE FAVORITE – Whitnall
Can the Falcons make it five straight conference titles? Seems like a very good chance as Whitnall gets its 1-2 backcourt punch of Jack Lutz (23.5 ppg) and Myles Herro (13.5 ppg) back. The Falcons were 19-7 overall last season and went untouched in Woodland East play.
DARK HORSE – Greenfield
The Hawks could be one of the state’s most improved teams in 2024-25. Greenfield was 8-4 in league play last season and played champion, Whitnall, tough twice. No team in the conference returns more than the Hawks either, including a pair of All-Conference players, Dahir Abdullahi (16.0 ppg) and Mason Stieber-Pinter (12.3 ppg)

PLAYER OF THE YEAR – Jack Lutz
Lutz is the leading returning scorer in the Woodland East. Coming off a breakout season, Lutz put up nearly 24 points per game while shooting a ridiculous 63 percent from the field, including 44 percent from deep. Lutz, who won the award in 2023-24, also averaged four rebounds and three assists during his junior campaign.
