One of the top 2023 guards on the NY2LA Association this past season was Braylon Wenger. With his play on All Ohio Select, the 6’7” shooting guard earned himself honorable mention honors at the 17U level of the NY2LA Association.
“The season went great with All Ohio Select. We started to come together in July and had our best run in our last tournament at the Final Chapter,” he said. Wenger continued to improve his game throughout the season and was a prominent reason why All Ohio Select 2023 had a deep run at the Final Chapter Tournament. They were able to advance all the way to the platinum semifinals coming up with a couple key victories along the way.
To date, Wenger holds one scholarship offer from University of Rio Grande which he received back in May. “I like Coach Arrowood. He has a great personality and appreciate that he was the first coach to take chance on me and offer me a full ride,” the senior had to say about Rio Grande.
Another school interested in Wenger is Lincoln Memorial University, which he recently took a visit to last weekend. “The visit to LMU was great,” he said about his trip to the division two school in Tennessee. “Players were great to play with and talk to. I was impressed with how up to date they were with the current trends in developing and taking care of their players.” A few other schools he has been in contact with include Air Force, Belmont, IUPUI, Seton Hill, and Wright State.
“High IQ, big guard with advanced skill who can excel on or off the ball with rapidly improving athleticism,” Wenger said to describe his own game. Throughout the season he was one of the most impactful players on the association. With his positional size, skill, and versatility as well as his ability to make plays on both ends of the floor, the senior has many tools that translate to the next level.
Next up for Wenger is his season at Dalton High School (OH) in which he is looking to help his team win their fourth straight league championship and his main goal of a state championship.
