Last month the annual Generation Next Basketball Association saw its third year come to a conclusion with another excellent couple of weekends of middle school basketball that saw some solid development and competition at the 5th-8th grade levels.  The fifth grade level saw the OSA Crusaders out of Nebraska capture the championships thanks to strong play from Gabe Edstrand and Josiah Dotzler.  Here’s a look at both of the Co-MVP’s for the 2016 GNBA 5th grade circuit this past spring…

2016 GNBA CO-MVPs – 5TH GRADE
JOSIAH DOTZLER – G – OSA CRUSADERS

A talented young guard who was active across the board, Dotzler can contribute scoring the basketball but he also fills the box score.  Whether it’s collecting rebounds, delivering assists, or creating havoc on the defensive end where he tends to excel, Dotzler is a quality young guard who makes solid decisions and quality plays with consistency.  His play combined with Edstrand paced OSA throughout the league and was a critical factor in his team capturing the overall league championship this season.

GABE EDSTRAND – F – OSA CRUSADERS
One of the many young talented forwards in the division, Edstrand scored with consistency in the paint and around the basket and he cleaned the glass on both ends in dominant fashion.  Mix in nice activity defensively at times and an ability to fill the box score if needed and Edstrand’s interior presence combined with Dotzler made OSA a tough matchup game in and game out.  His solid and consistent play was another critical factor in the OSA championship this season.
