Session one of the 2015 GNBA season continued from Milwaukee on Saturday. Once again, day two featured some eye-popping performances, including Gerald Doakes from ABC Select, who turned in a 44-point scoring effort.
Here are the top performances and stock boosters from Saturday’s action.
Austin Andrews – Net Gain Sports – 7th Grade
Net Gain cruised to an easy win over ET21 Buckeyes on Saturday and it was Andrews who stole the show. Andrews registered a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds in the win. He shot over 70 percent (12-17) from the floor and added four steals as well.
Courtney Brown Jr. – Top Flight – 7th Grade
Brown Jr. paced a high-octane offensive attack for Top Flight Saturday morning. He seemed to be everywhere at times, scoring a game-high 24 points to go along with 15 rebounds, seven of which came on the offensive end. Brown Jr. also had two assists and two steals in the win.
Noah Carter – Iowa Mavericks – 8th Grade
The Iowa Mavericks topped Team Getshook Saturday morning in large part of Carter’s efforts. Carter went for 21 points, including 11-12 from the free throw stripe. Carter was great around the rim without the ball, grabbing eight rebounds and blocking two shots. Carter then went for 20 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Kessel Heat Black the following afternoon.
Nolan Dahmen – Playground Warriors – 7th Grade
After struggling somewhat in his first game on Saturday, Dahmen came back with a dominating performance Saturday night. Dahmen was 10-10 from the floor for 20 points in a win over the Iowa Mavericks. A skilled big man, Dahmen has plenty of tools at his disposal on the block.
Nobal Days – Butler Elite – 8th Grade
The talented 8th grader delivered a huge triple double effort in a gutsy win over the Iowa Barnstormers on Saturday afternoon. The highly regarded 8th grade prodigy dropped 10 points collected 10 rebounds and blocked 10 shots in a quality dominant floor performance during day 2.
Gerald Doakes – ABC Select – 7th Grade
It’s on the first session of GNBA, but already we may have the performance of the season. Doakes went for 44 points in a 91-79 win over Top Flight Saturday night. Doakes was up and down the floor the entire 30 minutes, going 17-24 shooting and grabbing seven rebounds and three steals.
Markese Jacobs – Chicago Select – 8th Grade
Jacobs should make an impact right away in high school next year. Advanced physically, Jacobs excels at taking his defender to the rack and finishing in traffic. Jacobs had 23 points on 8-14 shooting to lead Chicago Select to a big win over Wisconsin United.
Carlos Johnson – Mac Irvin Fire – 7th Grade
Johnson and Mac Irvin Fire fell to Playground Elite, but the soon-to-be high school freshman was outstanding. Johnson scored 18 points and was a warrior on the glass, grabbing 16 boards.
Deontay Long – Milwaukee Spartans – 8th Grade
Long is one of the most difficult players to cover in GNBA. The long, versatile wing can play all five positions and take the ball coast-to-coast. He had 20 points and eight rebounds in a win over Machine Elite Saturday afternoon.
Jalen Suggs – Team Sizzle – 7th Grade
Almost always a top performer in GNBA, Suggs had another tremendous output on Saturday. He went off for 29 points on 8-19 shooting and nailed three triples. Suggs packed the stat sheet with nine rebounds, five assists, and three steals in a loss to ABC Select.
Regan Tollefson – 43 Hoops – 8th Grade
Tollefson went for 20 points for 43 Hoops in their loss to Machine Elite. Tollefson shot the lights out, going 9-12 from the field. He also added six rebounds, including five on the offensive end.
Brandis Bowen – Playground Elite – 7th Grade
Bowen came up with 17 points and eight rebounds as Playground Elite edged Mac Irvin Fire in a terrific ball game. Bowen was 8-10 from the field and added eight rebounds and four assists in the win.
Zyiere Carey – Butler Elite – 8th Grade
Carey helped lead Butler Elite to a nice win over the Iowa Barnstormers Saturday afternoon. Carey had 18 points on 8-16 shooting, including three three-pointers. He also had four rebounds and three steals in the win.
Semaj Henderson – ET21 Buckeyes – 8th Grade
Henderson led the Buckeyes to a win over the Illinois Irish Saturday afternoon. Henderson had some struggles at times, but powered his way to a game-high 22 points. He also grabbed four rebounds and contributed two steals.
Jeramie King – Playground Elite – 8th Grade
Playground Elite rolled Team Ramey Saturday afternoon. King led the charge with a game-high 17 points. King dominated the paint, going 7-10 from the field and grabbing nine rebounds. King also had 17 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists in a win over Martin Bros. later that night.
Alex McAleer – Iowa Barnstormers – 7th Grade
McAleer was quite efficient on Saturday and his team needed every bit of it. McAleer went for 18 points on 5-9 shooting, and was a cool 8-10 from the foul line in a one-point victory over Net Gain Sports. He also chipped in with four rebounds, two assists, and two steals in the win.
Jake Schockemoehl – Iowa Mavericks – 7th Grade
Schockemoehl and the Mavericks fell in a two-point game to Core 6 Speed Saturday afternoon. Schockemoehl was a marksman from downtown, connecting on three triples. He had a game-high 19 points in the loss.
Jalen Snell – Future Elite – 8th Grade
Snell doesn’t mind doing the little things and his efforts helped Future Elite to a win over Martin Bros. Saturday afternoon. Snell had a double-double with 11 points and a whopping 16 rebounds. He also recorded four steals and three blocks in a complete effort.
Willie Bradley – Mac Irvin Fire – 6th Grade
Mac Irvin Fire only had four players score in Saturday’s win over the Milwaukee Rebels, but that’s all they needed. Bradley went for 33 points on 12-17 shooting, leading a second half explosion of 42 points for Mac Irvin Fire. Perhaps even more impressive, Bradley grabbed 28 rebounds, compared to 28 rebounds for the Rebels.
Steven Clay – Playground Elite – 5th Grade
Add another double-double to the stat book for Clay. He scored 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for Playground Elite in a blowout win over Future Elite. Clay also recorded a game-high six steals, turning defense into offense.
Cameron Davis – Martin Bros. – 6th Grade
Davis had 20 points and 10 rebounds in a win over the Illinois Predators. He had a big second half to help Martin Bros. come back from a deficit in the final period. Davis also had three assists and two steals in the win.
Jalen Drane – Mac Irvin Fire – 5th Grade
Drane scored 23 of his team’s 39 points in a loss to Top Flight. Drane was 8-12 from the floor, while the rest of the team combined shot 6-21 in the loss. He also had a team-best three rebounds and two blocks Saturday night.
Connor Enright – Kessel Heat Black – 6th Grade
Enright is a savvy guard that can score and create for his teammates. He did just that in a close loss to Team Getshook Saturday afternoon. Enright had a team-best 16 points and also dished out a game-high six assists. Enright also collected three rebounds and three steals as well.
Jack Frick – Top Flight – 6th Grade
Frick was nearly perfect from the field in Top Flight’s win over Playground Elite Saturday afternoon. Going 7-8 shooting, Frick had a game-high 18 points in the win. He also came up with eight rebounds and two steals.
Jordan Glenn – Wisconsin United – 5th Grade
Wisconsin United rolled to an easy win over Kessel Heat Saturday morning. Glenn was terrific in all areas, scoring 16 points, including three triples. He also added five rebounds, four assists, and three steals in the victory.
George Jackson – Top Flight – 5th Grade
Jackson can be an imposing force in the paint. He scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in Top Flight’s win over the Iowa Barnstormers Saturday morning. In what was an outstanding defensive effort by Top Flight, holding the Barnstormers to just 14 points, Jackson controlled the paint, forcing the opposition to take contested shots inside.
Terrance Kamara – Team Getshook – 6th Grade
Lifting Team Getshook to a win over Kessel Heat, Kamara rattled off a game-high 20 points on Saturday. He was 7-14 from the field and had a double-double with 11 rebounds. Kamara also led the team with three steals and two assists.
Kaleb Wofford – Yanders Law – 6th Grade
Wofford went off for a huge scoring performance in a win over Core 6 Speed. Scoring a game-high 28 points, Wofford was 10-17 from the field, including 2-3 from downtown. Wofford made it a double-double with 10 rebounds and also collected three steals Saturday morning.
