The third session of the GNBA and the second round of Western Conference play is in full swing and the competition got underway Saturday at Hopkins H.S. (MN). 7th grade standout Patrick McCaffery returned to the court for the Iowa Barnstormers in an inspiring effort and a host of others delivered quality efforts on day 1.  Here's a look at some of the top 7th and 8th grade performances from Saturday's games..

TOP PERFORMERS
Benjamin Breeding – 2019 – C - Kingdom Hoops

Breeding was a dominant defensive force during Saturday's games, having a major impact on his team’s 2-0 record. Breeding scored 2 pts, 8 reb, 7 blk in a 52-30 win over Wisconsin Swing and finished with 4 pts and an impressive 11 rebounds in Kingdom’s 63-41 win over Yanders Law.

Carteare Gordon – 2018 - F – SW Illinois Jets
One of the top post prospects in the GNBA Western Conference, Gordon was a big man with big game. Gordon scored 18 pts, 9 reb, 3 blk in their 50-35 win over Wisconsin Swing and then followed it with 8 pts, 8 reb and 2 blk in a tough 57-27 loss to PowerGroup. Gordon displayed great physicality, strength and explosiveness around the rim during the Jets’ games.

Zach Harvey - 2019 – G – KC PowerGroup
Harvey played some big time basketball at the guard spot throughout the day Saturday. The young guard finished with 12 pts, 2 reb, 2 stl, and 2 ast in a 76-36 win over Net Gain Sports and dropped 13 pts in another W for his team. Harvey makes the team better with his leadership, he works well without the ball and impacts the game without scoring.

Monty Johal - 2018 - G - Yanders Law
Johal, one of the top prospects in the GNBA Western Conference, came with his A-game again. The 6-2 guard is consistently competing at a high level on both sides of the ball, leading Yanders Law to a 2-0 record during Saturday's games. Johal finished with 29 pts,12 reb and 5 stl in a 56-31 win over Iowa Mavericks and scored 25 pts, 7 blk, 5 stl and 4 reb as Yanders took a 67-46 win over Kingdom Hoops.

TreyShawn LaBeaux – 2018 – F - Iowa Barnstormers
LaBeaux was one of the most complete prospects from Saturday's Western Conference GNBA games. He finished with 17 pts, 9 reb and 3 blk in a 80-60 win over Milwaukee Spartans and 18 pts, 5 reb, 2 blk in 80-64 win over Gateway. LaBeaux keeps teams to one possession by always securing the defensive rebounds, getting the ball up court and used great communication on the defensive end.

Deontay Long – 2019 – F - Milwaukee Spartans
Long looked to be one of the premier forward prospects coming through the Western Conference as he was a dominant force throughout the first day. Long finished with 25 pts and 10 reb in a 65-36 win over Gateway and tallied another double-double with 23 pts and 17 reb in a 62-58 win over Iowa Barnstormers. Long's play demands attention, with size, skill and athleticism.

Patrick McCaffery - 2019 – G - Iowa Barnstormers
McCaffery returned to the court and put together an inspiring performance as he one of the most consistent and competitive prospects from Saturday's games. The long guard scored 17 pts and 6 stl in a 71-26 win over Full Package and finished with 19 pts, 8 reb as he tried to lead an exciting comeback before falling 62-58 to the Milwaukee Spartans.

Jontay Porter – 2018 - F – KC PowerGroup
Porter was one of the top performers from Saturday, showing great potential as one of the top prospects in the GNBA. Porter finished with 6 pts, 2 blk, 3 stl in a 52-15 win over Kingdom Hoops and another 15 pts, 6 blk, 6 reb, making 5/7 from deep, leading to a 57-27 win on the challenging SW Illinois Jets. At 6-6 and long, Porter showed great versatility during Saturday's games making plays in all phases of the game.

Joe Wieskamp – 2018 – SF - Iowa Barnstormers
Wieskamp was a major factor throughout Saturday's games helping to lead the Barnstormers to a 2-0 record. Wieskamp finished with 25 pts in an 80-60 win over Milwaukee Spartans and 22 pts, 3 assists in an 80-54 win over Gateway. The emerging wing/forward showed great touch from the perimeter going 6/8 from behind the arc during Saturday's games.

Jordan White - 2019 – F – KC PowerGroup
White was a major playmaker all over the floor during Saturday's games. 
The emerging forward finished with 12 pts and 3 stl in a win 76-36 win over Net Gain and finished with 12 pts, 8 stl, 4 reb, 3 ast in PowerGroup’s 55-27 win over Wisconsin Swing. White thrived at turning defense into easy offense.
