While there are plenty of sophomores making an impact in their high school season, here are five that are especially standing out and deserve greater attention.

Brock Brown – 2028 – G/F – Taylorville

Brown has started to emerge as one of the top wings in Illinois’ 2028 class during his standout sophomore season following a second team all-conference freshman season. This includes putting up 34 points and 9 rebounds for Taylorville in a recent game. The wing stands at 6’6” with good length as well to having a versatile game on both ends of the floor including good perimeter skills offensively. He is already drawing some division one interest and took a visit to Northern Iowa back in the fall.

DJ Caldwell – 2028 – G – St. Ignatius

Caldwell has been a key piece to all the success this season for a very good St. Ignatius team. This includes scoring 13 points on 5-7 shooting in the championship game victory at the recent Jack Tosh Holiday Tournament. The hot shooting guard had two games in the tournament where he hit three threes. Much more than just a shooter, the guard also has some size at 6’3” with good length and is a standout on the defensive side.

Talon Fabian – 2028 – G – Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau

Fabian has been a big reason why G-E-T is off to an 8-1 start to their season. Already in his sophomore season, the guard has games with 28 25, 22, and 21 points. As just a sophomore, Fabian already has a high skill set and is a high IQ guard. His skill set is highlighted by his outside shooting ability but also has a well-rounded offensive game with good playmaking ability with the ball.

Jamison Spratt – 2028 – G/F – Grosse Pointe South

It has been a breakout sophomore campaign for Spratt as he is showing that he’s one to know in Michigan’s 2028 class. As a sophomore there is already plenty to like about his game and is just scratching the surface of his upside. He has good size on the wings at 6’6” in addition to his athleticism and well-rounded game.

JaQuan Turner – 2028 – SF – Oak Creek

The 6’5” wing forward has continued to produce in his sophomore season and has even greater upside. He is one of the most athletic players in Wisconsin’s 2028 class in addition to a growing offensive skill set and a good all-around game. He has multiple double doubles already this season as well to showing the ability to be a shutdown defender.
