The championship game of the 75th Kankakee Holiday Tournament did not disappoint between the host Kankakee versus Lincoln-Way Central. This matchup was tight throughout with neither team getting much more than a five point lead all game. In the end, some Kankakee free throws were the difference as they captured the title, 54-50.
Nick Brzezniak – 2027 – SF – Lincoln-Way Central
The forward got off to an incredibly hot start scoring his teams first 8 points. As well to having some size at 6’6”, Brzezniak is a skilled and versatile scorer. As well to hitting a pair of threes, he also hit a pull up mid-range jumper and finished it strong around the basket. For his size, he can handle the ball and shoots it well off the dribble. The intriguing junior finished with 17 points in the game.
Alex Panos – 2026 – G – Lincoln-Way Central
With his outside shooting, Panos led the way for Lincoln-Way Central with 18 points. Whether it was off the dribble, coming off screens, or spotting up, Panos shot it very well from deep hitting four threes in this game. This included an extremely clutch three with just over ninety seconds to play to tie the game up. The senior guard also had a couple of nice takes into the paint maneuvering through traffic to finish as well as dish it out with good vision.
Cedric Terrell – 2026 – PG – Kankakee
Not only did Terrell hit the game winning free throw with just 6.5 seconds to play but also finished with 14 points. In addition to his game winning free throw, he also several key plays in the final three minutes including hitting a three, a steal, and forcing a tie up. Terrell is a quick and shifty point guard that is a true playmaker on both ends. He used his speed all game on the defensive to pressure the ball in both the half and full court. The senior exceled on the attack often beating his man off the dribble. For his size, he finished it extremely well around the paint right over defenders as well to pulling up in the mid-range.
Myair Thompson – 2026 – PG – Kankakee
While Thompson may not have scored it much, he still made a large impact in his team’s championship victory. This included making plenty of plays on both ends. Defensively, the tough guard is very tough to beat off the dribble and can get all over opposing ball handlers. Offensively, he recorded 6 assists. He used his physicality to get into the paint often on his drives and showed good court vision setting up his teammates.
Lincoln Williams – 2026 – SF – Kankakee
Williams was just too big, athletic, and aggressive throughout this game to score a game high 25 points in the winning effort. Whether it was from him attacking the offensive glass, on dump off, or posting up, Williams just could not be stopped around the basket from scoring, which included multiple and one plays. The fluid athlete was also effective in transition and driving to the basket just gliding to the rim with his long strides right past defenders. He finished the game with multiple dunks as well to finishing so efficiently all around the paint with his length. Williams became Kankakee’s all-time leading scorer in the win. He is one of the top available seniors in the entire Midwest region.
