New Berlin West used a dominant last 12-minutes to pull away from Whitnall after a tightly contested opening half that had NBW leading 36–34 at the break.  Whitnall briefly regained momentum early in the second half, taking a 45–43 lead at the 13-minute mark, but New Berlin West took full control from there behind strong efforts from Jayce Cook and Evan Kern sealing the 80–59 win.

Jayce Cook - 2027 - PG - New Berlin West
Cook was a catalyst during New Berlin West’s win, finishing with 32 points on 6-of-15 shooting from three, along with 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four of his six threes came after halftime, along with a pair of timely assists that helped stretch the lead. Known primarily for his shooting, Cook also showed good feel with his pace and timing off the bounce, attacking gaps when the defense overextended and making timely plays when Whitnall looked to mount a push.

Zach Hewitt - 2027 - SF - New Berlin West
The 6’4 athletic wing's biggest impact came on the defensive end. Hewitt finished the game with 12 points and 3 steals but drew the primary defensive assignment on Markee for much of the night. He showed his defensive versatility with great energy and physicality, using his length and athleticism to disrupt passing lanes and create transition opportunities for their offense.

Evan Kern - 2026 - G - New Berlin West
Kern was a difference maker on both ends of the floor, finishing with 17 points (11 in the second half), 10 rebounds, and 3 assists. The 6’3 guard and UW–Stevens Point commit elevated his play after halftime, scoring within the flow at the rim and from the outside while also impacting the game on the glass. He showed strong feel and toughness, rebounding effectively from the guard spot and making timely decisions. 

Cooper Markee - 2026 - G - Whitnall
Markee finished with 20 points and made a strong impact despite an off shooting night from deep for a proven perimeter shooter. The 6’6 guard impressed with his fluidity and feel with the ball in his hands, comfortably creating offense at multiple levels. He consistently got to his spots in the mid-range and showed the ability to finish through contact at the rim. Markee also displayed high-level vision and passing ability off the bounce, making reads when the defense collapsed and creating opportunities for teammates. He recently earned his first scholarship offer from Bryant & Stratton, and with his size, skill set, and overall feel, he looks poised to attract more attention moving forward.

Max Michalak - 2027 - F - Whitnall
Michalak was impressive as the physical 6’6 forward, finished with 18 points, including 12 in the first half to help keep Whitnall in the game early. He was effective scoring at the rim with his back to the basket, showing patience, strength, and good touch when finishing in traffic. Michalak consistently created space inside, using his body well to score through contact and provide a reliable interior presence throughout the game.
