Greendale’s 6’5 unsigned senior wing Zavier Castillo is quickly one of Wisconsin’s early must watch names. Young for his class and still tapping into his long-term ceiling, Castillo has opened the year with elite efficiency and high-level production, positioning himself as a Division II scholarship prospect with real Division I mid-major upside.
Castillo blends a strong, athletic frame with explosive vertical bounce finishing well above the rim and consistently scores at all three levels. Heading into this past weekend, Greendale was off to a 2–0 start and the senior has been dominant posting 33 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals in game one and 34 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists in a statement win over Pewaukee. Few players in the state have matched his efficiency in early action: 23-31 FG (74%) – 11-15 3FG (73%) – 10-10 FT.
Defensively, Zavier's size, strength, and mobility allow him to guard multiple positions and impact the game both on the perimeter and in the lane. Still evolving and far from a finished product, Castillo is only scratching the surface. With his combination of athleticism, scoring ability, and positional tools, expect his recruitment to pick up quickly for schools targeting a late blooming senior who can come in and play. He’s easily one of the more intriguing available seniors on the board in the Midwest.
Castillo played with the 24 Up program during the grassroots travel season.
