The high school season is off and running and a number of talented juniors are honing their games in preparation for their seat at the table the next 12-14 months. One late blooming talent who continues to show promise is junior standout Jayce Cook of New Berlin West (WI).
Equipped with a 6-1 170 pound plus frame, the cerebral guard has shown an ability to score at each level, create with efficiency, and fill the box score with hustle, energy, grit, and leadership. On any given day Cook can put the ball in the basket or flip to create easy opportunities for his teammates while impacting the game with activity. A high IQ guard, Cook has nice instincts and feel defensively allowing him to get into the passing lanes to create chaos or deliver nice on the ball defense when the opportunity presents itself. A strong 20-point max effort performance in a season opening win for New Berlin West is the appetizer for what potentially could be a stellar junior campaign for Cook.
He holds an offer from Lindsey Wilson with interest coming from the likes of Palm Beach Atlantic University, Charlotte, Northern Michigan, and he’s already taken a couple of unofficial visits to UW-Milwaukee. A potential D1 prospect who will also receive high level D2 looks before it’s all said and done, Cook’s stellar work ethic and high-level instincts make for an interesting prospect to keep track of moving forward.
Cook plays for the 24 Up program during the grassroots travel season.
