Following in a highly accomplished sibling's footsteps isn't always the easiest thing regardless of the sport, but 2027 forward Kager Knueppel is passing the test with flying colors so far. The younger brother of current Charlotte Hornets rookie sensation Kon Knueppel, Kager has continued to build a strong resume of his own with quality performances and accomplishments already in his young prep career.
A standout in our GNBA platform a few years back, Kager is a two time high school state champion to date, and the 6-9 205 pound plus combo forward is on track for the Division 1 level much like his older brother was a half decade ago. His size combined with his plus length make for an excellent and at times lethal perimeter shooter with a body type comparable to current Golden State Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. in his prep career. The long lean forward also boasts quality instincts and a nice feel for the game and he's really just scratching the surface of his potential as he continues to display an ability to distribute the ball and quality rebounding potential as well long term.
He put that potential on display this past weekend as Wisconsin Lutheran opened up defense of their state WIAA Division 1 state championships with an early statement victory over Indianapolis Pike (IN) at the Kevin Brown Memorial TOC. Kager posted a 22 point 11 rebound 2 assist 2 block performance in the win and captured All-Shootout 1st Team honors in the process.
The standout junior currently holds offers from DePaul, Toledo, and most recently Butler. Notre Dame, Ohio State, Purdue, Marquette, South Carolina, Northern Iowa, etc. are a few of Division 1 programs also showing early interest in the rising talent. On track for a stellar junior year, Kager is primed to become one of the trending prospects in the 2027 class regionally over the next 12-14 months as he continues to develop both physically and skill wise.
He plays with the Team Herro program during the grassroots travel season.
