While many of the top players in Wisconsin’s senior class have made their college commitments, there is still plenty of available talent. One of the top available seniors in the state as well as the entire Midwest currently is Amare Hereford. The 6’2” guard of Beloit Memorial High School and the Power 5 program has received offers from several division one programs across the nation.

The programs who have offered Hereford to date include Bethune Cookman, Cal Poly, Northern Illinois, South Dakota State, and Western Illinois. This is in addition to seeing some high major interest including Wisconsin.

When asked about a possible commitment timeline, Hereford stated “Honestly when I was in my junior year, I wanted to commit prior to my senior season starting. After discussing with my support system and coaches we all feel it’s best for me to just hoop and it will all work itself out. God got me covered so I’m going to continue to keep the faith, keep my head down and put in the work as I do every day. I will find the right program in due time.” Hereford added in that he’s working on setting up some campus visits.

“I want a great fit college,” Hereford said on what he’s looking for in his college program. “I have a lot to offer a program, but I need my style of game to fit within their system. With my speed I prefer a team that likes to play up-tempo a little more. I also want the team to have an amazing culture that’s feels like a family. One team one goal. I handle business in the classroom, so I like to be challenged academically. So having a school with strong academics is a plus as well.”

Hereford and Beloit Memorial opened their season this week with a 113-31 win. In the lopsided victory, Hereford scored 39 points.
