The junior season is always a time for players to take that great stride in their game and in their recruitment. Here are five who are poised to make that big leap. Some of these players already have great recruitment but could still see much more while some are more of unknowns with college coaches.

Cannon Flynn – 2027 – SF – Rochester Adams

There are few players in the region who elevated their game during the grassroots season as much as Flynn. The 6’6” wing forward continued to greatly develop his overall skill set and athleticism leading to a dominant summer with Oakland Elite. This included having himself a 47 point game while going 8-9 from three. If he continues this growth into his junior season, look for him to be on plenty of college coaches radars as more would be smart to look his way. His recruitment is just waiting to take off.

Jacob Fuller – 2027 – PF – Glenbrook South

During his high school career, Fuller has continued to show he’s one of the top 2027 big men in Illinois. This has resulted in plenty of division one programs showing interest in the 6’8” junior. Amongst them are Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Illinois State, Western Michigan, and more. Not only does he have the size but also shown good skills for his size with his consistent outside shooting ability and being able to handle the ball. Look for this to result in a big junior high school season and some offers.

Landon Lethunya – 2027 – F/C – Lake Forest Academy

As well to being 6’9”, Lethunya flashed a ton of upside during his time with Full Package this past season. For his size, he has a good array of tools. He moves well at his size, has plenty of length, has some athleticism, and can shoot the ball from the outside. While a bit of an unknown at this point, he could be a popular name by the end of his junior or spring season.

Charles Schlicht – 2027 – SG – Grant Community

Over the past couple of years, Schlicht has continued to be one of the top guards on the NY2LA Association while playing with PAC Elite. This is in addition to being one of the most skilled scorers in Illinois’ 2027 class. The 6’2” guard shined all summer averaging 24.4 points per game at the two NY2LA tournaments along with 6.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists. He is a true three level scorer with a great ability to create for himself. While he has started to draw some college interest, he is underrecruited for a player of his level and should have more scholarship coaches looking his way.

Hayden Schroeder – 2027 – F – Wheaton Academy

While Schroeder has already received a couple of division one offers, he is just starting to near his tremendous upside. As well to being 6’8”, the forward also has a highly versatile skill set to be one of the top prospects in Illinois’ 2027 class. Look for his strong season with the Illinois Wolves to carry over into the upcoming season. Toledo and Western Michigan have already offered and look for this list to greatly build in the upcoming months.
