Class of 2022 SG Marcette Lawson feels as if he has so much to prove in the state of Texas.  The state seems to have one of the deepest pools of talent that it has had in quite some time.  The Ryan High School standout in Denton, TX is quietly becoming one of the best kept secrets in the state and it is only a matter of time for his to have his coming out party.  With his work ethic being unmatched by any player that you will find in the region, it is only a matter of time before his named will be mentioned among those who are highly sought after in the state.

Standing at 6’7, offensively he is one of the most active players that you will find.  He has a great feel for the game around the basket and does not force the issue.  He is very crafty in the half court and has a deep bag of offensive moves to get past his defender.  He has a soft touch on his mid-range shot and has put in the extra work to extend his range.  He is a good ball handler who has no problem putting in on the floor with either and hand and getting to the basket.  He has the size to finish at the rim with contact and is great at anticipating and getting offensive rebounds.  He also has great vision and can find open teammates in the half court as well as in transition.

Defensively, he is a great on ball defender.  He is quick and athletic enough to guard out on the perimeter as well as play against bigger opponents in the post.  He is a quick leaper and protects the rim when he is challenged.  He has no problem picking up full court and applying pressure or reading passing lanes and getting steals which lead to easy transition baskets.  All the tangibles that need to be productive at the next level are things that he possesses, and we fully expect him to have a long and impactful career at the next level.

College programs in the region have begun to really get a front seat at his talent and will be paying close attention to his progress over the next 6 months.  We fully expect for his list of schools to shoot up quick as he will get to gain traction over his senior season and look to continue to excel on the court as well as the classroom.
