Emerging prospects are making noise early and taking the next step in their development and every state has different young players delivering on any given night.  Wisconsin is no different and the sophomore class is starting to see some step to the front of the room with quality performances on the hardwood.  Once such talent is Donavan Short of Denmark High School.

Equipped with a strong 6-9 225 pound plus frame, Short is in the conversation for top prospect in the state at this junction given his size and the skill package rarely seen by young bigs.  He has solid athleticism and he pairs that with instincts, feel, and vision to form a quality talent that passes the look test on court.  It doesn’t stop there as the Denmark High School standout can score at all levels with a smooth perimeter stroke and quality post skills that allow him to finish above the rim as needed or simply score with either hand.

The talented young big is off to a huge start this season scoring at close to 33 points a game while grabbing 11 rebounds and kicking out 6 assists a contest.  Short is really just starting to take his place at the table and before it’s all said and done expect the talented 2022 interior prospect to have a list of mid to high major suitors on his recruiting trail as he’s quickly trending up and he has a nice ceiling to grow into as a player.

Short plays with the Phenom University program during the grassroots travel season.
