The high school season is right around the corner and with that comes hype of the already established prospects along with excitement surrounding the new faces arriving on the scene.  Here’s a look at five players that should be buzzing regionally and nationally over the next 12 plus months…

Note – Listed in alphabetical order

Blessed Barhayiga – 6-8 – F/C – 2022 – Osseo (MN)
A plus length interior prospect with instincts and feel, Barhayiga has solid agility, decent athleticism, and he has the ability to finish around the basket and stretch out the perimeter on occasion.  He cleans the glass, has solid instincts defensively, and he’s really just starting to scratch the surface of his potential.  One of the below the radar prospects in Minnesota but equipped with a very high ceiling, Barhayiga is an potential high major impact prospect who’s just starting to take flight.

Omaha Biliew – 6-7 – SF – 2023 – Dowling Catholic (IA)
A skilled instinctive forward with size and plus length, Biliew continues to have his name among the best in the 2023 class nationally and for good reason.  He can score at each level, he handles the ball well, he can finish above the crowd or through contact, and he has the ability to face up and knock down the perimeter jumper.  He projects out as a high major impact prospect and if he can add 2-4 inches to his frame it goes a lot higher than that.  High ceiling prospect who should be a highly coveted one with each passing year.

Nigel Hylton – 6-8 – SF – 2022 – Lake Forest Academy (IL)
Canadian native that first took flight at the NY2LA Sports Next Level tournament this past July, Hylton has plus length, size, instincts, and feel to go along with nice bounce and an ability to finish at multiple levels.  Really like everything about where he’s headed and with continued development and molding of his clay so to speak look for him to take a big jump forward in the national spotlight if he continues to trend in the direction he’s trending.

Javonte Taylor – 6-6 – F – 2023 – Morgan Park (IL)
One of the prized freshmen in the state of Illinois, Taylor has bounce, feel, and an ability to impact the game in a variety of ways.  He was exceptional this past spring in helping his team to the GNBA 8th grade league championship and he’s continued to trend in that direction with positive performances since.  If he can add 2-4 inches to his frame over the next couple of years he’s going to be a major problem nationally.  Projects as a high major impact prospect at this stage.

Ethan Thomas – 6-9 – F/C – 2023 – Greenfield HS (WI)
Arguably the top 2023 prospect in Wisconsin right now big picture wise, Thomas is far from a finished product at this stage which is scary considering how his length and athleticism have taken off in recent months.  There’s a tremendously high ceiling for him as he figures everything out and right now his ability to run the floor, finish around the basket, and elevate and finish above the crowd is impressive at times.  Expect him to quietly trend upward with each passing year as he’s got all the physical tools right now to project out to a high major impact talent when it’s all said and done.
