An intriguing wing with plenty of untapped potential, Forest Park (Ill.) DePaul Prep 2019 shooting guard Perry Cowan flashed some impressive tools over the travel season. A defensive-minded wing with a budding offensive skillset, Cowan holds two scholarship offers going into his junior season.

DePaul: “It’s a great coaching staff, good team. It’s close to home, I like that.”

Illinois Chicago: “The coaching staff is really good. They’ve gotten their players better. Great potential teammates, great atmosphere, close to home.”

Cowan also once held an offer from Illinois under former head coach John Groce. After an impressive summer at the 17U level, Cowan is picking up interest from Georgia Tech, Iowa, Michigan, Kansas, Nebraska, Northwestern, Maryland, Kent State, UW-Milwaukee, Tulsa, Miami (OH), and more.

He took an unofficial visit to Miami (OH) last weekend.  “It’s a really good school,” he said. “They have a good coaching staff. They should be pretty good this year.”

Cowan said both Nebraska and UW-Milwaukee appear serious and have been in constant contact this fall.

Nebraska: “They really like my game. They enjoyed watching me play.”

UW-Milwaukee: “They told me I’m probably one of the top guys they’re recruiting at the moment. They came to an open gym to watch me play.”

The 6-foot-4, 190-pound junior has no timetable for a decision.  “I’m looking for coaches who want to get their players better,” said Cowan. “A great atmosphere and a family environment.”

Cowan plays for the Illinois Wolves during the travel season.
