Jack Hemphill (Raleigh, N.C.) went into this past spring as a relatively unknown commodity. After breaking his foot last year, Hemphill had no scholarship offers as the first evaluation period approached.  That was a long time ago.  Now holding roughly 20 scholarship offers, Hemphill continues to see his stock rise.

The blue collar, versatile forward has set his first official visit to UNC-Wilmington for the weekend of Sept. 22.“I really like the coaching staff,” Hemphill told NY2LA Sports. “I really like coach (C.B. McGrath). He was at North Carolina for a long time. Pretty much the whole staff played at UNC. It’s on the beach and I like that too.”

Hemphill has other offers from American, Boston, Columbia, Furman, James Madison, Kent State, Morehead State, UNC-Wilmington, William & Mary, Youngstown State, and more.  Hemphill could be on the verge of his first high major offer. He will take an official visit to Wisconsin the weekend of Sept. 29.

“They got on me late,” said Hemphill. “They saw me play in Vegas during the last live period and liked me. They’ve been texting me that they’re going to come by and watch me work out in the next week or two.”

Rutgers, Central Florida, Rice, Santa Clara, Richmond, Clemson, and others are also expressing interest in Hemphill this fall. A couple more mid-major offers could be coming soon.  “Santa Clara is coming to watch me work out,” he said. “Richmond is coming to watch me as well.”

Hemphill could sign in November should the right opportunity come his way. The 6-foot-9, 225-pound senior is also open to playing out his senior season.  “I really don’t know right now,” he said of a decision timeline. “I’d rather get it over with in November, but I don’t want to rush anything. I’m just going to see what happens on my visit to Wisconsin.”

Hemphill played with Team CP3 during the travel season.
