One of the top snipers in the class of 2019, shooting guard Quinn Richey (Johns Creek, Ga.) proved to be very valuable amongst a loaded Game Elite squad this summer. Complimenting a wealth of talent, Richey picked up his first power-five offer from Mississippi State in July.

“It was pretty cool,” Richey told NY2LA Sports. “I had a great game and they just offered me on the spot. I’m excited, it’s a great school. They’ve had some good players go there. They’re a big time program.  They really liked the way I play, how I shoot the ball, and how I make the most out of my minutes.”

Richey also has offers from Florida International and St. Louis. He listed interest from Yale, Princeton, Rice, Appalachian State, Florida Gulf Coast, and Penn.

“I think Yale is probably pretty close (to offering),” he said. “I think Rice and Appalachian State are close as well. They say to just keep working on my game. They’re going to come see me in September to see me workout.”

Richey will visit Rice on October 13-14.  “I really like how they keep in touch with me,” he said. “They call every couple days and check in.”

Appalachian State will also host Richey on Sept. 23. The 6-foot-5, 190-pound junior could also visit Mississippi State and Furman this fall.

Richey remains in no rush with his recruitment and plans to play out next July before cutting things down and making a decision.  “I think I’ll wait until after July next year,” he said. “I want a program that fits my style of play, a good relationship with the coaches. Also a home away from home, somewhere if I got hurt, I’d still love the campus and want to be there. Good academics as well.”

Richey plays with Game Elite during the travel season.
