One of the best kept secrets in the country, Chicago (Ill.) Proviso East 2018 shooting guard Quinlan Bennett finally received his first Division 1 scholarship offer in June. Looking to snag the sleeper shooting guard, Manhattan came through for Bennett, who has the potential for a big July.

“It was good,” Bennett told NY2LA Sports. “They called me unexpectedly. They said they liked how I run in transition, my mid-range game, my IQ, and my motor.”

Since receiving the offer from Manhattan, Bennett has been doing his homework on the Jaspers.  “I like the school,” he said. “I didn’t know much about them, but after they offered, I looked them up and I really liked the school.”

Going into July, Bennett is generating interest from Kent State, North Dakota State, Western Illinois, Nebraska-Omaha, Wright State, Cal-State Fullerton, and others.

The 6-foot-3, 175-pound senior said North Dakota State could be next to offer.  “I went down there to visit campus and I loved it,” said Bennett. “I love the coaching staff and the facilities. I really like their school. I talked to the head coach for 45 minutes. He said the offer is mine, they just want to keep watching him.”

Bennett will camp at Southern Illinois on Friday.  “They’re cool with my AAU coach,” said Bennett. “They’ve been talking about the kind of player I am and what I can do to improve. They said they really like me and they’re excited to see me at camp.”

Although Bennett is expected to add to his collection of offers in July, he won’t rush the process. Bennett plans to take his recruitment into his senior season before making a decision.  “I think I’m going to wait it out,” he said. “I want more time to discuss with my coaches and my family.”

Bennett plays with Kessel Heat Black during the travel season.
