One of the top players in the NY2LA Basketball Association Farmington Hills (Mich.) Southfield Christian 2019 shooting guard Harlond Beverly was busy on Thursday. Taking call from numerous high and mid-major programs, Beverly isn’t about to stop working now.

“I have to keep grinding,” said Beverly. “I need to continue to improve and get better each day. That’s what I’m concerned about.”

Beverly is receiving interest from Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State, Temple, VCU, Wisconsin, Elon, Central Michigan, Holy Cross, Miami (OH), Northeastern, Northern Kentucky, Duquesne, Air Force, Detroit, and others.

The 6-foot-4, 170-pound shooting guard said a Big Ten program could be first to offer in July.  “Iowa seems like they’re very interested,” said Beverly. “They’re going to come see more games in July. They just look forward to building a better relationship.”

Beverly will camp at Michigan on Friday.  “We’re trying to get to know each other,” said Beverly. “They’ve had a winning tradition since I’ve been watching. That stands out.”

Beverly is slated to begin the July evaluation period in Milwaukee at the NY2LA Next Level Invitational. A bouncy, high scoring guard, Beverly said schools want to see him round out his game before extending offers.

"I feel like it's mostly defense," he said. "They told me to focus on that. They know I can score it, but they want me to show I can defend and do things that don't end up on the stat sheet."

Beverly plays for REACH Legends during the travel season.
